So you’ve booked your flight, you’ve made all your plans for cities to visit and hostels and you think you’re ready… Then you realize you have to figure out what the hell to pack! If you’re away any time longer than a month and you go many spots in Europe… You’re bound to find some serious changes of weather. Once, in August, I went from Italy with staggering 30-degree hot days then to Amsterdam, which somehow managed to be 5 degrees out. Safe to say I was not prepared for that! On top of weather, you need to be prepared for different scenarios. You can go from being lazy in sweats to walking around Rome all day then the next day you can be at a bar in Barcelona where you get invited to a club event and if you’re not prepped, you won’t get in!

Here’s a list of everything you need for all seasons in Europe:

Clothes

Make sure to bring versatile clothing but also save a bit of room if you buy any cute clothes on the way. If you’re in Europe just for the summer – take away a few things and you can definitely fit a few more crop tops and shorts.

  • 2 tank tops – one black, one white
  • 1 crop top (I gave in and brought more crop tops)
  • 1 graphic tee
  • 1 cardigan
  • 1 flannel plaid shirt
  • 2 skirts – one short, one maxi
  • 1 dress
  • 2 pairs of jeans – one denim, one black or colored
  • 1 pair of leggings
  • 1 pair of jean shorts
  • 1 pair of comfy shorts
  • 1 pair of lulus or sweatpants
  • 1 pair of pajama pants
  • 2 sweaters – one black, one white
  • 1 light jacket
  • 1 warmer jacket
  • 1 Bikini (more if you’ll be mainly in hot weather)
  • Underwear (I did 10-15 pairs of thongs considering size)
  • 2 bras – one nude, one strapless
  • 6 pairs of socks
  • 1 scarf and 1 pair of mittens

Shoes

  • 1 pair of runners
  • 1 pair of boots
  • 1 pair of sandals or flats
  • 1 pair of flip flops (for walking around the hostels and showers)
  • 1 pair of heels (if applicable – I never used mine with how bad stone roads are!)

Toiletries

Be sure to put the shampoos, lotions and toothpaste in ziplock baggies so the don’t leak in your bag!

  • Sunglasses
  • Make up and Chapstick
  • Make up remover
  • Shampoo and Conditioner
  • Body wash (I used my shampoo as body wash…Backpacker life!)
  • Deodorant
  • Razors
  • Toothbrush and Toothpaste
  • Travel sized Hairspray
  • Travel Hairdryer
  • Straightener or Curler (if you’re with a friend, get her to bring one and you bring the other)
  • Ponytails and Bobby pins
  • Medical supplies (medications, ibuprofen)
  • Melatonin and Gravol (sleeping on planes and with snoring bunks mates isn’t always easy!)
  • Travel Towel
